Manufacturing since 1924

Lockdown Medical’s journey began in 1924 with A.W. Showell Ltd., a maker of haberdashery needles. The company evolved, eventually founding Lockdown Medical in 1993 to provide innovative orthopaedic products. It initially focused on trauma and rehab braces, before introducing the integrated interbody technology platform known as STALIF, alongside innovative devices like the LOM™ Lateral Ankle Brace and the ProGlider™ Walker.

Throughout its history, Lockdown Medical has upheld a commitment to quality and innovation, continually expanding its product range to serve the orthopaedic community.

Today, LockDown Surgical serves the US market with FDA-cleared solutions designed for orthopaedic excellence.

Present day

Currently, our core product LockDown LSSS™, is a double braided augmentation device, designed to provide fixation during the healing process following an acromioclavicular separation due to coracoclavicular ligament disruption.

With over 2,000 implantations globally every year, the Lockdown LSSS™ device offers excellent clinical results and patient satisfaction outcomes. A simple, reproducible surgical procedure requires no holes in the coracoid and a fast rehabilitation process.

The patient’s arm is supported by a sling at 2 weeks post operatively, and the most exacting activities (including contact sports) can be resumed after 12 weeks. FDA cleared and used widely across the United States and globally.

Lockdown Medical Ltd currently distributes products to Australia, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Netherlands, Malaysia, Scandinavia, South Africa, UAE and the USA. We are currently seeking other distribution partners around the world. See our full distributor list here.
